He Who Has Ears

Will You speak to me Lord if I never ask?
And could I hear you without ever listening?
It's always seemed ideal to expect much for little
You are such a very big God, after all.
But don't I want to ask! Don't I want to listen!?
You are the merciful Creator of all; who numbers my hairs!
That You would want me is too joyous a thought
So if You would speak to me, I want to hear
Teach me to ask, encourage me to listen
Let my desire be for You; to walk with You in obedience.
Set me on paths of righteousness; all else is death.
